State Fire Marshal: Apartment Fire in Milford Caused by Unattended Cooking
The Delaware State Fire Marshal鈥檚 Office has determined that a fire late last night–October 1st–in Milford was accidental. Shortly before midnight, the Carlisle Fire Company of Milford was alerted to an automatic fire alarm at the Reserves at Sawmill on Valley Drive. Deputy State Fire Marshals responded to the scene to conduct an investigation into the origin and cause of the fire. Investigators determined that the fire originated in the kitchen of an occupied apartment and was caused by unattended cooking materials on the stove. The building鈥檚 fire suppression system was able to extinguish the fire on the stove top with a single sprinkler head activating. Damage to the building is estimated at $2500. No injuries were reported.
