Harrington Man Arrested after Shooting Incident Friday

A Harrington man has been arrested following a shooting incident that occurred Friday afternoon on Staytonville Road east of Harrington. Delaware State Police learned that a man, later identified as 60 year old John Allen of Harrington, was standing near the roadway with his hands in the air. Two vehicles stopped and the victim was attempting to talk to Allen, who was yelling at the driver of the other stopped vehicle. The victim saw that Allen had a gun in his hand and as he drove away, Allen fired shots at him. No one was injured.

Allen was arrested without incident and taken to Troop 3, where he was charged with the crimes listed below:

  • Reckless Endangering 1st Degree (Felony)
  • Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of Felony (Felony)
  • Failure to Comply with Taking of Photos and Fingerprints

Allen was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2, and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on a $23,500 cash bond.
