Traffic Stop in Dover Friday Leads to Arrest on DUI and Weapons Charges

A traffic stop by Delaware State Police in Dover led to the arrest of a man on DUI and weapons charges. Police spotted a car swerving on Route 13 northbound near Jerome Drive just before 10 on Friday night and pulled the car over. The driver – identified as 42 year old Donnel Eaddy of Dover – showed multiple signs of impairment and standardized field sobriety tests were given. Eaddy resisted arrest, but was taken into custody after a taser deployment.
An inventory search of the car turned up a multi-caliber rifle, magazines and ammunition.
Eaddy was taken to Troop 9, where he was charged with the crimes listed below:
- Possession of a Firearm/Destructive Weapon if Previously Convicted of a Violent Felony (Felony)
- Driving Under the Influence of a Combination of Alcohol and Any Drug
- Resisting Arrest
- Failure to Remain in a Single Lane
Eaddy was arraigned by Justice of Peace Court 7 and released after posting a $2,650 secured bond.
