Residential Structure Fire in Showell Determined to be Accidental

A resident on Circle Road in Showell, Maryland is receiving assistance from the American Red Cross after a fire occurred on Saturday December 27th at around noon. Worcester County Fire Marshal鈥檚 deputies, with assistance from the Ocean City Fire Marshal鈥檚 Office, investigated the scene and determined the fire was accidental, caused by electrical issues. They discovered that the fire started in a bedroom and extended from the right rear of the single story residence. This required multiple volunteer fire companies and a tanker task force to control due to limited water access. The home was unoccupied at the time, and no injuries were reported. 聽Firefighters worked for several hours to bring the fire under control and remained on scene for approximately four hours.
