The Georgetown Police Department is alerting the community about fraudulent emails being sent using the identity of town employees. The emails appear on a reproduced official Georgetown letterhead. Recipients are asked to send payments via wire transfer. The scam is designed to make businesses believe they are paying for legitimate town services. Officials remind the community that the TOWN does NOT and will NOT request or accept payments of any kind through wire transfers. If you or your business receive a suspicious email matching this description, contact the Georgetown Police Department immediately at 302-856-6613
