Sussex County Unemployment Increased, Statewide Unemployment Dropped Slightly

Unemployment in Delaware statewide has dropped from 5.1% in May to 4.9% in June, however Sussex County saw an increase from 4.1% in May to 4.7% in June. Delaware’s numbers are outpacing the national average which dropped a tenth of a percentage to 4.2% in June.

The largest over-the-year job increases from June of 2025 to June of 2026 were seen in the Professional and Business Services and Private Education and Health Sectors, while losses were seen in the Manufacturing and Wholesale & Retail Trade Sectors.
