AAA: Gas Prices Continue to Climb; Delaware’s Average up 28 Cents From Last Week

The national average for a gallon of regular gasoline jumped 15 cents from last week to $4.09. AAA reports that most states are now averaging $4 per gallon or higher. Rising crude oil prices are behind the spike at the pump. Volatility along the Strait of Hormuz and instability in the region have pushed crude oil prices into the $90 per barrel range and could continue driving up costs during the second half of summer. The Delaware gas price average is $4.14 today, up 28 cents in the last week and $1.07 higher than one year ago. The South Jersey gas price average is $4.15 today, up 23 cents in the last week and up $1.17 compared to one year ago. The national average per kilowatt hour of electricity at a public EV charging station stayed the same this past week at 42 cents, while in Delaware the cost is up 3 cents from last week to 41 cents.
