AAA Urges Caution as Students Return to School

With the new school year underway, AAA Mid-Atlantic is reminding drivers, parents, and students to stay alert as traffic increases around school zones. Public Affairs Manager Jana Tidwell noted that the mix of school buses, young drivers, commuters, and pedestrians makes this time of year especially hazardous. AAA encourages motorists to watch for changing traffic patterns and practice safe driving to help keep students safe.聽In 2024, Delaware State Police reported 173 school bus crashes, resulting in 62 injuries and one fatality; compared to 214 school bus crashes, resulting in 106 injuries and one fatality in 2023.
