American Red Cross Declares National Blood Crisis

For the 2nd time in history, the American Red Cross has declared a national blood crisis. Whether you’re a first-time donor or a lifelong donor, your appointment could help save multiple lives. Blood donations are historically lower during the summer, but officials say blood donations have fallen to a 4-year low – worsening the emergency shortage and threatening patient care.
The Blood Bank of Delmarva has numerous blood drives where you can donate – or you can go to one of the local donor centers – in Dagsboro, Dover or Salisbury. It only takes about an hour for a donation of whole blood.
