A Delmar man has been convicted of 1st and 2nd degree assault and reckless endangerment after a 2-day jury trial last week.

Court records show 49 year old Charles Ecker of Delmar got into a verbal fight with a female victim while in the victim’s car. When they arrived at Ecker’s home – the fight escalated and Ecker assaulted the victim, who ran into the home for help from Ecker’s mother. The victim left the house to prevent Ecker from taking her belongings and she was repeatedly struck and lost consciousness. The victim was able to escape when Ecker’s mother called him into the house.

Sentencing has been deferred pending completion of a pre-sentence investigation. Ecker will remain in custody while he awaits sentencing.
