UPDATED – 10/11/22 – Earlier this month, firefighters were called to County Paramedic station 108 in Georgetown for a fire. Crews found a medic unit on fire. The bay and the unit were both damaged. During this week’s Sussex County Council meeting, County Administrator Todd Lawson updated the Council on that incident. Lawson says the one bay where the medic unit was in was damaged. That bay will be taken down to studs and rebuild. None of the garage beyond that was affected. They were able to salvage just a little bit of stuff from the damaged medic unit – that loss will be addressed through insurance.

Georgetown Firefighters were called to the Sussex EMS building on Mulberry Street in Georgetown for a fire just after 8pm Sunday. Crews arriving at the scene found a fully involved paramedic unit inside the building. Crews from Ellendale and Millsboro assisted or provided cover up. Crews were on the scene for about an hour.

The State Fire Marshal is investigating.
