Georgetown man charged with 7th DUI, child endangerment

A Georgetown man was arrested and charged with his 7th DUI along with several counts of child endangerment.

According to the Georgetown Police Department, around 8:30 p.m., Thursday officers patrolling the area of North Street stopped a vehicle for a mechanical violation.

Officers made contact with the driver, 45-year-old Heriberto Acebedo of Georgetown, who police say appeared to be intoxicated and showed multiple signs of impairment.

An inquiry by officers revealed Acebedo had six previous DUI convictions.

A 12-year-old juvenile was a passenger in the vehicle, according to police. Two other children, ages ten and two, were left at the Acebedo’s residence alone.

Acebedo was charged with his 7th offense DUI (Felony), Driving without a License, and three charges of Endangering the Welfare of a Child. He was committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution due to his intoxicated state.

Police did not disclose bond information.
