New scam targets Medicare customers in Delaware

There’s a new scam going around targeting Medicare users. Delaware is part of a group of states to receive new Medicare cards later this spring that will replace your social security number with a unique identifying number. There is no cost for the new card and your benefits will not change. However, people are getting calls from thieves pretending to be Medicare, and asking for anywhere from $5-50 to cover the cost of a temporary card. Insurance Commissioner Trinidad Navarro says Medicare will never call you, rather these are scammers trying to get financial information from you. He says your new, real Medicare card should be arriving in the mail sometime after April 1st.
