A 6-second video of an incident early Thursday morning in Ocean City has been making the rounds on social media – which includes accusations that Ocean City Police beat up a 13 year old boy. Ocean City Police conducted a business check just after midnight on July 5th on Worcester Street after a large crowd of about 100 people gathered outside Club H20. A 20 year old man began yelling obscenities at the officers which incited the crowd many of which also began yelling obscenities as well. Police arrested and charged six individuals – from 13 to 20 – for a variety of offenses – including disorderly conduct, obstructing and hindering and assault. No injuries have been reported. Ocean City Police tell WGMD the officers involved remain on regular duty at this time.

We understand the public’s concern over the video, however; the video that was posted shows just a few seconds of a much larger incident that occurred that night. The Department’s Office of Professional Standards is currently investigating the incident, to include all videos, witness accounts and any other information that becomes available.”
