Salisbury University announcing this week its creating a new College of Health and Human Services. The restructuring will make the CHHS the largest academic program on campus, with about 2,200 students. The idea has been approved by the University System of Maryland Board of Regents, and will house 3 different schools: Nursing, Social Work, and Health Sciences. Officials say the change reflects the growing importance of those fields, as the nation grapples with an opioid epidemic, aging Baby Boomer generation, and distinct rural health care needs.
