State Police Arrest Magnolia Man for Armed Robbery in Dover


The Delaware State Police have arrested a 67-year-old Magnolia man for robbery and related offenses, following an armed robbery that occurred Tuesday night at a Valero gas station in Dover. With the assistance of the Dover Police Department, state police detectives identified Donald Johnson Jr. as the suspect in the robbery and obtained a warrant for his arrest. On July 29th, the  Dover Police Department and the U.S. Marshals Service First State Fugitive Task Force arrested him. Troopers responded to the Valero on July 28th at about 9:00 PM. According to information from the police investigation, the suspect entered the store wearing dark clothing and threatened the clerk with a large knife demanding money. The clerk could not open the register, so the suspect fled after stealing a pack of chewing gum. No one was injured. During the investigation, detectives learned of two similar robberies(Opens in a new window.) that occurred shortly afterward in the City of Dover. Johnson faces several felony charges and was committed to the Department of Correction on a $127,000 cash bond.
