Saturday started July off with some pretty good fishing.

At Lewes Harbour Marina, Bill told us The Jay Sea II, the Katydid and the Grizzly came back from ocean structure with limits of flounder. At least one private boat took advantage of the first day of summer tog season and brought a few of them to the cleaning table. Other private boats had sea bass, flounder and triggerfish. The Angler brought in croaker and spot.

At Breakwater Tackle on the fishing pier at Cape Henlopen State Park they said anglers had buckets full of spot, plus some croaker. Flounder fishing was slow.

Old Inlet Bait and Tackle reported the Inlet gave up small rockfish during the day on bucktails and much larger rock at night on live eels and plugs. Ben Dove caught a 23-inch sheepshead on a sand flea out of the inlet.

Hook ‘em and Cook ‘em said the Judy V and the Captain Bob had flounder and sea bass.

This is Eric Burnley with your Talk of DelMarVa Fishing Report.
