Upcoming Area Christmas Parades and Road Closures


The 79th Annual Salisbury Christmas Parade, presented by Mountaire Farms and hosted by the Salisbury Jaycees, will take place on Sunday, December 7th. In partnership with the City of Salisbury, the parade will follow its traditional route, concluding at City Park on East Main Street. Festivities will begin at 1 p.m. at the corner of Civic Avenue and Mt. Hermon Road and proceed along East Main Street to the park, with the parade concluding at 3 p.m. 
Road Closures:
To ensure the safety of participants and spectators, the following roads will be closed during the event:
  1. Civic Ave. from Glen Ave to Mt. Hermon Rd
  2. Mt. Hermon Road from Civic Ave. to E. Main
  3. E. Main Street from Long Ave. to Snow Hill Road 
  4. E. William St. from Naylor St. to Long Ave.
  5. E. Main Street from Rt. 50 to Long Ave.
  6. Long Ave. from Rt. 50 to Mt. Hermon Rd
  7. Glen Ave. from Davis St. to E. Main
  8. Davis St. from E. William to Glen Ave.
Residents and visitors are encouraged to plan alternate routes during these times.
 
 
Also…

Two upcoming events, the Hometown Christmas Parade and Rehoboth Beach Seashore Marathon, will have impacts on Rehoboth Beach roadways.

The Christmas parade will begin to roll down Rehoboth Avenue at 6:30 pm Monday, December 1. Several road closures will be in place, with access provided only to street residents.
                • Rehoboth Avenue will be closed from the traffic circle to the bandstand from 6-10    pm.

  • State Street, from Hickman Street to Rehoboth Avenue, and Country Club Drive        will be closed from 4-10 pm.
  • Sussex Street, from Columbia Avenue to 4th Street, will be closed from 4-9 pm.
  • 5th Street, from Rehoboth Avenue to Kent Street, will be closed from 4-9 pm.

    More than 3,000 runners will participate inthe Rehoboth Beach Seashore Marathon and Half-Marathon Saturday, December 6. The following roads will be open to street residents only from 7 am-3 pm:

  • Henlopen Avenue (Henlopen Acres residents should use 2nd Street)
  • Grove Street from Columbia Avenue to Henlopen Avenue
  • Gerar Street
  • 4th Street
  • Sussex Street from 5th to 4th streets

Drivers also should anticipate possible brief closures on the following roads at approximately the following times:

7-7:30 am

  • Rehoboth Avenue westbound from the bandstand to State Road
  • State Road from Rehoboth Avenue to Hickman Street • Hickman Street from State Road to Stockley Street
  • Stockley Street from Hickman Street to Scarborough Avenue
  • Scarborough Avenue from Stockley Street to Lake Drive
  • Lake Drive
  • Queen Street 7-9 am
  • Surf Avenue 7 am-noon
  • Ocean Drive
