Two Injured in Motorcycle Crash Near Lewes

Delaware State Police are investigating a crash between a motorcycle and a SUV on Plantation Road Friday evening around 5:30. Police say the operator of the motorcycle, 54 year old Robert Willoughby of Smyrna, was southbound on Plantation Road in the shoulder traveling at a high rate of speed in heavy traffic when a the driver of the SUV began to turn left into a residence and collided with the motorcycle. Willoughby and a female passenger were ejected – both were taken to Christiana Hospital with serious injuries. Charges – including DUI – are pending for Willoughby. The driver of the SUV was not injured.
