UPDATED: Human Remains Found in North East, MD Identified as Murdered 3 Year Old Nola Dinkins of Delaware

UPDATED –  07/11/25 – Maryland State Police have confirmed that human remains that were found in a vacant lot in North East, Maryland a month ago have been positively identified as 3 year old Nola Dinkins of Newark, DE. She had been reported kidnapped from Newark by her mother, which triggered an Amber Alert. The Amber Alert was canceled when New Castle County Police and the FBI determined the mother’s account was false.

The mother, 31 year old Darrian Randle is charged with 1^stand 2^nd degree murder and other offenses and remains in custody at the Baylor Women’s Correctional Institution. Police have also charged 44 year old Cedrick Britten of North East with Accessory to 1^st and 2^nd degree murder and other offenses and is in the Cecil County Jail.

The Maryland State Police Homicide Unit continues the investigation.

ORIGINAL STORY – 06/11/25 – An Amber Alert was triggered Tuesday night just after 7 for 3 year old, Nola Dinkins, from Newark, DE who had been reported kidnapped by her mother, 31 year old Darrian Randle of Newark. An overnight investigation by New Castle County Police and the FBI determined that the mother’s account was false and the Amber Alert canceled.

The case has been turned over to Maryland State Police who have recovered a body in Cecil County. They are still waiting on a positive identification. MSP are continuing their investigation.

New Castle County Police have arrested the mother, who is charged with felony falsely reporting and is being held at the Baylor Women’s Correctional Institution in default of a $1-million cash bail.

UPDATED – Maryland State Police have now arrested two people in connection with the missing child, Nola Dinkins.  Her mother, 31 year old Darrian Randle of Newark, DE and 44 year old Cedrick Britten of North East, MD.

Darrian Randle is charged with the following:

• 1^st and 2^nd degree murder
• 1^st degree child abuse resulting in death of a minor under 13 
• other related criminal charges

She currently in custody in Delaware and is awaiting extradition to Maryland.

Cedrick Britten is charged with the following: 

• Accessory to 1^st and 2^nd degree murder after the fact
• Failure to report child death
• other related criminal charges.

He is in custody in Maryland and awaiting transport to the Cecil County District Court.
