WGMD Fishing Report 10-3-18

On Wednesday I fished in Delaware Bay on Larry Weldin’s 22- Sportcraft along with Doug Elliott.  We left the dock between 9:30 and 10:00 AM in order to catch the last of the outgoing current into the flood.

At Reef Site 8 the current was so strong that we could not hold bottom and Larry could not keep the boat over structure.  We kept trying, but finally gave up and went  behind the Outer Wall.  There the northwest wind was still strong, but the current was not quite as bad.  Larry caught a nice triggerfish on squid while Doug and I remained skunked.

After that it was the Inner Wall where we found some spot in a very small patch of hard bottom between the osprey nest and two pieces of driftwood sticking up from the rocks.  At least I caught my dinner.

Amanda at Lewes Harbour Marina said they now have a leader in their Tog Tournament.  Bob Murphy, a member of the Wednesday Group, caught a 4.69 pounder on the Katydid.  The rest of the Group had tog and triggerfish.

This is Eric Burnley with your WGMD fishing report
