WGMD Fishing Report 12-13-19

bill-o

Thursday was just, plain cold.  A few boats went out, but I could not get any reports from them, so I will try again on Friday.  I did get one report that there were birds acting fishy at the Eights, but no fish were caught in the area.

The Mid-Atlantic Fishery Management Council has voted on the recreational bluefish regulations for 2020.  Bluefish are overfished and in order to stop this the Council has voted to reduce the bag limit to three bluefish per day for shore and private boat anglers and five bluefish per day for charter and head boat fishermen.  Not sure how this will affect Delaware anglers, but it will be a big drop for New Jersey head and charter boat owners and customers who count on a ten fish limit when they go out on night bluefish trips.

The DNREC project to dredge Massey’s Ditch and Baker Channel is getting ready to begin.  The equipment is staging at the Massey’s Landing parking lot and at the northside of Indian River Inlet.

This is Eric Burnley with your WGMD fishing report.
