WGMD Fishing Report 12-16-18

Sunday saw no improvement in the weather over Saturday and Monday doesn’t look much better.  Right now it appears that Wednesday and Thursday may be fishable.

The Fish Bound out of Ocean City keeps on bringing in boat limits of tog and releasing big females up to 16 pounds.  The Morning Star, a head boat also out of Ocean City, had a great trip last week catching sea bass and a big flounder.  Both of these boats will run all winter.

Down in Virginia, boats working out of Cape Charles are still finding rockfish well over 50 pounds while drifting live eels.  This action is far from a blitz as my son Ric and several of his hard-fishing friends proved last week when they spent all day with the fleet and failed to get a single bite.  The rockfish season in the Virginia portion of the Chesapeake Bay will close on December 31.

Maryland anglers have had a tough fall as the flood gates at Conowingo Dam have been open putting too much fresh water in the bay.  Their rockfish season ends on Thursday.
