WGMD Fishing Report 3-9-19

Friday’s weather was still a long way from Spring, but it was warmer than Thursday and the wind did lay down.  I am certain some folks tried tog fishing, but I had no reports by the time I wrote this, however I hope to have something by Saturday.  The marine weather looks good for Saturday and I think even more people will be out fishing.

According to Lenny Rudow’s Fish Talk Report about the only thing going on around the Chesapeake Bay are yellow perch in the deeper parts of the tidal creeks and rivers and big blue and channel catfish in the Potomac River.  The cats like to hang around snaggy bottom where the water is deep and will take various cut bait such as menhaden.  The yellow perch remain the deeper holes and are a bit slow to take worms, minnows or grass shrimp due to last week’s cold weather.  With a warming trend on the way the larger female perch should begin to school up and follow the males to staging areas such as Perryville, Port Deposit and Millington.
