WGMD Fishing Report 6-10-18

Matt Boyer of Reading, PA, caught this 6.4lb 27.5 inch sea trout while fishing on the south side of Indian River Inlet using a swim shad.

Saturday was a bit more than damp as thunderstorms hit in early afternoon and brought fishing to a halt.

Those who decided to stay on shore made the correct decision.  There are few events more disheartening than fishing off shore all day then, when you finally see the inlet, there is a big, old black cloud spitting lightning and barking thunder right over your hole in the sand.  An experience I have had on more than one occasion.

Julie at Lewes Harbour Marina said the Katydid had a good catch of sea bass on Saturday and three tuna on Friday.

The only report from Old Inlet Bait and Tackle was a good run of shad at Indian River Inlet on incoming current.  Darts and small spoons did the trick on the shad.

Jeff Waxman ran his boat out of Indian River Marina to the Baltimore Canyon on Friday.  He ended the day with three yellowfin tuna, one bluefin tuna and eight big blue tilefish.  He said the tiles were much larger than usual.

The weather for Sunday does not look to spiffy.

This is Eric Burnley with your WGMD fishing report.
