WGMD Fishing Report 6-18-18

Father’s Day brought beautiful weather, but fishing was not as good as on Saturday.  Part of the problem may have been the large crowds at the most popular locations.

At Lewes Harbour Marina Tommy said the Katydid came in with flounder and sea bass, but no limits of either one.  He did see a few flounder caught from the Canal.  John Robinson fished the pier for a limit of flounder.

At Lighthouse View Bait and Tackle on the fishing pier at Cape Henlopen State Park the report was some keeper flounder and a good mess of spot.  Jigs with Gulp! or bottom rigs with minnows and squid strips were the most popular flounder baits.

At Old Inlet Bait and Tackle we heard the beach has been very crowded and most anglers didn’t have much luck.  A few kings were caught on bloodworms, but sharks and skates were a more common catch.  The Inlet is pretty much a dead zone.

At Hook ‘em and Cook ‘em Burt told us the head boat had a few flounder and he heard of the return of the small blues to Fenwick Island.  Trolling spoons is the top technique for the blues.

This is Eric Burnley with your WGMD fishing report.
