WGMD Fishing Report 6-5-18

Monday the sun came out, but the wind continued to blow making the waters on the bay an ocean just a bit bumpy.  As if that wasn’t enough, the storm on Sunday had the water looking like coffee with cream.

On Friday we mentioned that Captain Len Karpen on the FOMO out of Lewes Harbour Marina brought in a 200.9-pound mako with Steve Randazzo as the angler.  We also mentioned that the boat was entered in the Ocean City Mako Mania Tournament.  The tournament was supposed to end on Sunday, but since no one could get out, it was over on Saturday.  I am happy to report the FOMO’s mako came in first, second and third collecting $28,900.  Some big thresher sharks were caught, but only one mako.

As far as reports from boats fishing in the ocean and bay, there were none.  The same was true for pier and beach fishermen.

The black drum bite in Delaware Bay should be on once the water clears.  These fish normally hang around through the full moon in June, but then again there has been nothing normal about 2018.

This is Eric Burnley with your WGMD fishing report.
