WGMD Fishing Report 7-25-18

The “Booby Trap” crew Mo Hussin of Middletown, DE, Shawn Rodger of Dewey Beach, DE and Nino Mallari of Bear, DE fished out at Massey’s using Joe Shute lures on spreader bars and caught a 96lb blue fin tuna, a 66lb wahoo and two yellow fin weighing in at 50lbs and 23lbs.

Once again we had small craft advisories posted on Wednesday and they were already up for Thursday.  Other than when hurricanes came by, this is the longest stretch of windy weather I can remember during the summer.  Truth is most hurricanes don’t hang around for over a week.  It does look like Friday may be fishable, but then we will probably have to contend with dirty water at least close to shore.

The Old Grounds and Reef Site 11 were producing decent numbers of keeper flounder before the blow and should continue to do so.  You may have to move around to find where the fish are feeding, but once you locate them the action could be good.

I am still impressed with the number and size of the flounder caught out of the Inland Bays during the recent tournament.  Considering the weather, I believe those who fished the contest showed the rest of us the flounder are there.

The only positive report I have came from Clark at Old Inlet Bait and Tackle.  He said croakers were still being caught from the inlet by the southside campgrounds.

This is Eric Burnley with your WGMD fishing report.
