WGMD Fishing Report 8-2-18

More high winds and rough sea on Thursday.  The good news is things look better for the weekend.  Of course, that is subject to change with very little notice.

Stopped by Lewes Harbour Marina in the morning and the only boats that went out were the Katydid and the Angler.  The Katydid had a successful catch and release shark trip and came back in before noon.  The Angler was fishing in the bay for flounder, kings, croaker and blowfish.

I called Jerry at Taylored Tackle in Seaford and he told me about a six-pound snakehead caught out of the Nanticoke River on a lure.  The fish was in shallow water where it seems most snakeheads are found.  Bob Baker was in the store and told me about a trip to the Eastern Shore last Friday.  They caught 25 flounder between 18.5 and 20.5 inches.  The fish were close to Wachapreague Inlet where cool water flows in during incoming tides.  Knowing Bob I am sure they were caught on his homemade rigs with minnows, shiners, smelt or strips of squid.

This is Eric Burnley with your WGMD fishing report.
