Jack Harris of Smyrna, DE caught blue fish on Capt. Bob II with Capt. Roger Meekins anchored up on inshore wreck

Thursday saw a pretty brisk north to northwest wind and ocean fishing beyond a few miles was rough.  The Delaware Bay does not have a lee shore in a northwest blow, but the Angler with Captain Don Churchill made two trips in spite of the weather.  The hardy anglers on board caught croaker and kingfish including Fred David’s 1.12-pound citation winner.

Dan’s Tackle checked in a .89-pound sunfish for young Dan Austin, caught on a worm in a local pond.

At Lighthouse View Tackle on the fishing pier at Cape Henlopen State Park they said it was another good day for croaker and spot on bloodworms.

Chris at Hook ‘em and Cook ‘em said the head boat Judy V had a few triggerfish on the afternoon and morning trips.

Those of us who fish or traverse Massey’s Ditch will be happy to hear the area will soon be dredged.  A meeting to discuss this dredging project will be held on September 17 from 6:00 to 7:30 PM at the South Coastal Library at 43 Kent Avenue in Bethany Beach.

This is Eric Burnley with your WGMD fishing report.
