WGMD Fishing Report 9-28-19

Friday was a good day for fishing with moderate wind and seas.  Saturday looks a bit bumpy in the ocean, but the bay should be fine.  Sunday looks to be good where ever you wish to fish.

On Thursday the Katydid fished the bay and caught blowfish, blues triggers and a 10.52-pound sheepshead.

Dave at Lighthouse View Tackle on the fishing pier at Cape Henlopen State Park told us the mullet run has attracted blues, trout and flounder to the pier.  Right now, the best technique is to catch live mullet with a cast net and then live-line them around the pier pilings.  Second choice is to use large minnows is the same manner.  High tide is the most productive time to fish.

Old Inlet Bait and Tackle will be running their Fall Surf Fishing Classic this weekend so there may be a few more folks on the beach.  While they don’t have any more right to be there than non-tournament anglers, please give them a little more room as a courtesy.

This is Eric Burnley with your WGMD fishing report.
