Wicomico County Awarded Airport Improvement Grant
Wicomico County has been awarded a $95,000 FY26 Airport Improvement Grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to support critical infrastructure improvements at the Salisbury–Ocean City Wicomico Regional Airport. This grant award, issued to the County of Wicomico and shared with the Office of Representative Andy Harris, will fund Phase 1—design work for the rehabilitation of 1,200 feet of existing paved Runway 14/32. The purpose of the project is to enhance and maintain the runway’s structural integrity, extend its useful life, and ensure the
airport continues operating safely and efficiently for the region. County Executive Giordano says securing federal funding for this project is a major step forward in maintaining the County’s infrastructure, improving safety, and supporting the continued growth of the OC-Wicomico Regional Airport. Runway improvements are part of the County’s long-term plan to enhance airport operations, accommodate both commercial and general aviation users, and support broader regional transportation needs.
