Worcester County Public Schools Announces Interim Chief Academic Officer

Jennifer Sills has been named Interim Chief Academic Officer for grades pre-kindergarten through 8th by Worcester County Public Schools. Sills brings over 20 years of experience within Worcester Schools – along with a strong record of instructional leadership and innovation. In this position Sill will oversee curriculum and instruction for elementary and middle grades – working closely with school leaders and educators to ensure high-quality learning opportunities for all students.

Sills began her career with WCPS in 2003 as a Science Teacher at Snow Hill High School (SHHS), where she served until 2015. She then transitioned to the role of Library Media Specialist at Snow Hill High School, serving from 2015 to 2018, before moving into district leadership as Coordinator of Instruction for Science and School Library Programs, a position she has held since 2018.
Throughout her career, Sills has demonstrated a deep commitment to student achievement, curriculum development, and instructional excellence. She was named Worcester County Teacher of the Year in 2011, a testament to her impact in the classroom and dedication to her students.
In her role as Coordinator of Instruction, Sills has led numerous initiatives to strengthen science instruction and environmental literacy across the district. Under her leadership, the WCPS Media Expo received national recognition in 2024 from the American Association of School Librarians (AASL). The program was one of only 18 library programs nationwide to earn this commendation, highlighting Sills’ ability to foster innovation and elevate student learning experiences.
