234th CEIT Class Graduates from Newly Renamed “Steven R. Floyd, Sr. Training Academy”

21 Correctional Officer cadets graduated Friday, November 22 from the 234th Correctional Employee Initial Training (CEIT) Academy and took their oaths of office as Delaware’s newest law enforcement officers.  The cadets completed an intensive 12-week program of classroom and hands-on instruction in multiple subject areas.  Governor John Carney, Department of Correction leadership and staff, family and friends attended and during the program, officials held a ceremony to rename the Department of Correction Employee Development Center as the “Steven R. Floyd, Sr. Training Academy.”   Floyd was killed during a riot at the Vaughn Correctional Center in Smyrna on February 1st of 2017.  The graduates have already begun their new careers with the DOC.
