DE Unemployment Increases but Decreases in Sussex County

Unemployment in Delaware increased from 3.7% in March to 3.9% in April while the national average remained steady at 4.2%. However in Sussex County the average dropped from 4.1% in March to 3.9% in April.

According to the Delaware Department of Labor, the Private Education and Health Service sectors grew by 3300 jobs over-the-year – which represents three-quarters of the total over-the-year jobs increase. Wholesale and Retail Trade also saw an over-the-year increase. The growth was led by new jobs in hospitals, nursing and residential care facilities.
