Cause of Early Morning Denton Chicken House Fire Under Investigation

Firefighters in Denton were called for a structure fire just after 3 Tuesday morning. Crews arriving at the Tuckahoe Road location found a 600-foot long chicken house on fire. Multiple fire companies assisted at the scene or provided back up.

Fire Marshal investigators say one firefighter was transported to University of Maryland Shore Medical Center for treatment of heat exhaustion.

Investigators say the fire began in the rear of the chicken house – the cause is under investigation.

It took firefighters 3 hours to bring the blaze under control – damage is estimated at $525,000.
