DSP Investigating Pedestrian Crash Monday Night on Route 9 East of Georgetown


A fire police officer from Georgetown was hospitalized with critical injuries after he was struck by a vehicle at the area of Route 9 and Shingle Point Road just after 8:30pm. Delaware State Police say the 78 year old fire police officer was standing in the eastbound lane near his vehicle with emergency lights activated and wearing a a reflective vest, had and using a red strobe wand providing traffic control for a vehicle crash on Route 9 near the DelDOT yard when he was struck by an eastbound Honda Accord. The driver of the Honda – a 20 year old from Georgetown, was not injured.
