Easton, MD Man Charged With Assault, Child Abuse
A 43-year-old Easton, Maryland man has been charged with child abuse following an investigation by Deputies from the Talbot County Sheriff’s Office. On December 21st deputies responded to Swann Haven Road and learned that Irenus Jonathan Bernard assaulted his juvenile daughter.聽Deputies observed injuries to the victim consistent with assault and placed Bernard under arrest. The juvenile was transported to the University of Maryland Shore Medical Center at Easton.聽Bernard faces charges of first- and second- degree child abuse, first and second-degree assault, reckless endangerment and intoxicated endangerment.聽Bernard was transported to the Talbot County Central Booking facility for processing and an initial appearance before a District Court Commissioner.聽Bernard was held pending further action by the courts.
