DSP Investigation Fatal Crash North of Georgetown


A crash north of Georgetown around noon on April 17 left a Georgetown man dead. Delaware State Police say a Ford Explorer driven by 81 year old Michael Jeffra of Georgetown was southbound on Route 113 north of McColley’s Chapel Road when the SUV went off the edge of the road and struck a mailbox, road sign and a large embankment. The SUV caught fire and bystanders helped pull the driver from the vehicle and began life-saving efforts.

Investigation revealed that Jeffra did from injuries from the crash – not a medical emergency prior to the crash as originally believed.
