Bethany Beach enacts a tent ban on its beaches. Following suit of Rehoboth and Fenwick Island, Bethany Beach is the third coastal town to restrict the usage of tents and canopies. The town council approved the ban Friday night by a vote of 6-1. The ordinance applies year round to tents and canopies, although beach umbrellas are still okay. Violators will be issued warnings this year, and citations next year. In December the town released survey results showing 75% of respondents were in favor of banning large shading devices on the beach.
