UPDATED: Town of Snow Hill Announces Unofficial Election Results


UPDATED – 05/08/26 – The Town of Snow Hill held their general election in-person on Tuesday, May 5, 2026.

On the ballot were the offices of Mayor and Eastern District Council. Running for Mayor were two candidates: incumbent Mayor Janet T. Simpson and challenger Charles (Rob) V. Hall.  Running for Eastern District Council were two candidates: incumbent Edward S. Lee and challenger Ethan W. Shockley.

The Board of Election Supervisors announced unofficial results at the close of polls:  For Mayor:  Janet T. Simpson is the unofficial winner receiving 222 votes to 84 votes for Mr. Hall. For Eastern District Council, Ethan W. Shockley is currently ahead, receiving 76 votes to Councilman Lee’s 72 votes. 

There are approximately 13 (originally posted at 35 absentee ballots) absentee ballots received that were postmarked by or before May 5, 2026 still to be counted.  More may still be on the way.  Per the Town Charter, all but 10 absentee ballots, along with vetted and approved provisional ballots, will be counted on Tuesday, May 12th with the final 10 absentee ballots counted on Tuesday, May 26th. The official results will then be announced by the Snow Hill Board of Election Supervisors.

Victorious candidates will be sworn in at the Town’s June 9th, 2026 regular meeting, and will then begin their two-year terms.

UPDATED – 05/04/26 – Voters in Snow Hill go to the polls on Tuesday to elect a mayor and Eastern District Council person. Incumbent Janet Simpson is challenged by Rob Hall for the mayor’s office. For council, incumbent Edward Lee is challenged by Ethan Shockley.

The polls will be open Tuesday from 7am to 7pm at the Train Station.

UPDATED – 04/01/26 – There are two seats up for election in Snow Hill in May. Incumbent Janet Simpson is challenged by Rob Hall for Mayor. For the Eastern District Council seat Ethan Shockley is challenging incumbent Edward Lee. The election is set for Tuesday, May 5th – polls will be open from 7am to 7p at the Train Station.

Those who wish to vote by absentee ballot can call Town Hall or email Kandice Ringenary at adminco@snowhillmd.com to request an absentee ballot application.  The deadline to submit a request for an absentee ballot application is Friday, April 24th, 2026 at 4:30pm.

There are two offices up for election – Mayor and Eastern District Council seat. Candidates have until 4:30 Tuesday to file. The election will be held on Tuesday, May 5.

ORIGINAL STORY – 02/20/26 – The Town of Snow Hill will hold a general election on Tuesday, May 5th. Interested candidates for Mayor and the Eastern District Council seat have until March 31st at 4:30pm to file their application. Candidates can file by email to the Administrative Coordinator adminco@snowhillmd.com.

Voters who need to register should contact the Worcester County Board of Elections at 410-632-1320. You can also register to vote in person or by email by Friday, April 3rd at 4:30pm.

The general election is Tuesday May 5th at the Train Station on Bell Street.  The polls will be open from 7am to 7pm.
