Delaware State Police Arrest Dover Woman for 5th Offense DUI
A 33-year-old Dover woman faces her 5th Offense felony DUI charge following a traffic stop in Dover. Police say that on April 19th at about 4:40 a.m., a trooper saw a vehicle speeding northbound on Bay Road near Transportation Circle. The driver of the vehicle–a Hyundai Santa Fe– showed multiple signs of impairment. Following the administration of Standardized Field Sobriety Tests, Mirna Lopez was arrested for driving under the influence. A computer check showed that Lopez had four prior DUI-related convictions. During an inventory search of the vehicle, the trooper also found approximately .20 grams of cocaine. In addition to the 5th Offense Felony DUI charge, Lopez faces several other charges that include both drug and traffic-related offenses. She was taken to Troop 3 where she was charged with those offenses, arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 7, and committed to Delores J. Baylor Women鈥檚 Correctional Institution on an $8,000 cash bond.
