Dover Police Investigating Burglaries at Area Businesses
The Dover Police Department is investigating a burglary at the Governor’s Caf茅 on Kings Highway overnight on Monday. At 9:45 a.m., Dover Police received a call for a burglary at the business. Officers responded and found a window on the building that had been shattered. Police say that sometime between Monday at 5:00 p.m. and Tuesday at 9:00 a.m., someone broke into the business by breaking the window, and once inside, damaged several interior doors before leaving. There are no leads at this time.
In a separate case, Dover Police are investigating a burglary at Speedway Gas on North DuPont Highway, which happened early Tuesday morning. Dover Police responded just before 4:30 a.m. in reference to a burglary alarm at the business. Officers noticed a glass door had been shattered. Police learned that a black male wearing a camouflage vest, a yellow long-sleeved shirt, and a face covering, shattered the glass door with a rock and entered the business. Once inside, he removed several cartons of cigarettes before leaving. So far, police have no additional leads.
