Dover Police Make Arrest after Robbery Investigation Led to Barricade & Kidnapping Incident


Dover Police have arrested a homeless man following a robbery investigation that led police to a separate barricade and kidnapping incident Thursday evening. Thursday just after 9pm Police were called to the Wawa on North DuPont Highway for a reported robbery.

A male employee at the Wawa was assisting a customer when 36 year old Binbido Pierre approached the checkout and asked for a carton of cigarettes – then lifted his shirt and showed what appeared to be weapon.  The employee handed over the cigarettes.  Pierre remained outside the Wawa acting disorderly, but left before police arrived. 

Just before 11:30pm Dover Police were called to the Holiday Inn Express for a disorderly subject who was possibly armed. Pierre ran off on foot when police arrived but determined Pierre entered a motel room without permission and barricaded himself in a bathroom occupied by a 33 year old male. Police learned Pierre was armed with a knife and was preventing the victim from leaving the bathroom. Police were able to convince Pierre to release the victim and surrender.

Pierre is charged with a variety of offenses:

  • Robbery First Degree
  • Burglary First Degree
  • Kidnapping Second Degree
  • Possession of a Deadly Weapon During the Commission of a Felony
  • Offensive Touching
  • Two counts of Terroristic Threatening

Pierre was committed to SCI on a $123,600 secured bond.
