DSP Arrest Lewes Man on Gun and Drug Charges

A Lewes man has been arrested after a search warrant was executed at a residence on Pinetown Road in Lewes on Thursday, September 10th. This followed an investigation of 46 year old Christopher Smith for distribution of drugs from the residence.
During the search, Smith was detained without incident – a child was also in the residence at the time. The search of the residence turned up the following:
- .22 caliber handgun and ammunition
- 12-guage ammunition
- Approximately 11.60 grams of crack cocaine
- Digital scales
- Pyrex container with white residue
- Drug paraphernalia
- $1,052.00 in suspected drug proceeds
Smith was arrested and taken to Troop 4, where he was charged with the crimes listed below:
- Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony (Felony)
- Possess, Purchase, Own, or Control a Deadly Weapon, Semi Auto or Auto, By Person Prohibit Who Also Possesses Controlled Substance (Felony)
- Possess, Purchase, Own, or Control of a Firearm or Ammunition by a Person Prohibited – Prior Violent Crime or Felony (Felony) – 2 counts
- Manufacture, Deliver, Possession with Intent to Deliver a Controlled Substance, Tier 2 Quantity (Felony)
- Possession of a Controlled Substance, Tier 2 Quantity (Felony)
- Unlawful to Knowingly Operate or Attempt to Operate a Clandestine Laboratory (Felony)
- Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
- Unlawfully Dealing with a Child – Permits a Child to Remain in Place where Sex or Narcotics or Dangerous Drug Activity
Smith was arraigned by the Justice of the Peace and committed to the Department of Correction on a $46,000 secured bond.
