DSP Arrest Lewes Man on Gun and Drug Charges

A Lewes man has been arrested after a search warrant was executed at a residence on Pinetown Road in Lewes on Thursday, September 10^th. This followed an investigation of 46 year old Christopher Smith for distribution of drugs from the residence.

During the search, Smith was detained without incident – a child was also in the residence at the time. The search of the residence turned up the following:  

• .22 caliber handgun and ammunition
• 12-guage ammunition
• Approximately 11.60 grams of crack cocaine
• Digital scales
• Pyrex container with white residue
• Drug paraphernalia
• $1,052.00 in suspected drug proceeds

Smith was arrested and taken to Troop 4, where he was charged with the crimes listed below:

• Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony (Felony)
• Possess, Purchase, Own, or Control a Deadly Weapon, Semi Auto or Auto, By Person Prohibit Who Also Possesses Controlled Substance (Felony)
• Possess, Purchase, Own, or Control of a Firearm or Ammunition by a Person Prohibited – Prior Violent Crime or Felony (Felony) – 2 counts
• Manufacture, Deliver, Possession with Intent to Deliver a Controlled Substance, Tier 2 Quantity (Felony)
• Possession of a Controlled Substance, Tier 2 Quantity (Felony)
• Unlawful to Knowingly Operate or Attempt to Operate a Clandestine Laboratory (Felony)
• Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
• Unlawfully Dealing with a Child – Permits a Child to Remain in Place where Sex or Narcotics or Dangerous Drug Activity

Smith was arraigned by the Justice of the Peace and committed to the Department of Correction on a $46,000 secured bond.
