Fire at Laurel-area Residence Under Investigation

Laurel fire crews were called to a residential structure fire around 9:30 Saturday night on Route 13 south of Laurel. Crews arriving at the scene found fire and smoke showing. Firefighters were able to access the burning home and remove an unresponsive male victim – who is in critical condition at TidalHealth Nanticoke Hospital. Firefighters from multiple companies in western Sussex and Wicomico Counties were on the scene or provided back up.

State Fire Marshal investigators continue to look for the cause of the fire. Damage is estimated at $80,000.

Fire personnel were on the scene for over 6 hours.
