Flu cases rapidly increase in Delaware

Delaware’s Division of Public Health says there has been a significant spike in flu cases over the past few weeks. In the final week of December, officials say lab-confirmed cases of flu increased nearly 50%. Delaware is one of 46 states reporting widespread influenza outbreaks this year, many cases coming since the second half of December. As of December 13th, DPH reported 46 confirmed cases of flu, resulting in 15 hospitalizations and 1 death. As of today there are now more than 370 confirmed cases of the flu, with 95 hospitalizations and 2 deaths. Officials say its not too late to get vaccinated if you haven’t already. DPH is sponsoring a flu clinic at Legeslative Hall in Dover next Wednesday.
