UPDATED: Magnolia Man Arrested for Manslaughter in Fatal Shooting of 20-Year-Old Woman

UPDATED – 10/07/25 – Delaware State Police have identified 20-year-old Tamia Gordon of Magnolia, Delaware, as the woman who died in the fatal shooting last week in Magnolia.

ORIGINAL STORY – 10/01/25 – A 20-year-old woman died after being shot by an acquaintance who police say mishandled a loaded handgun in a reckless manner. The incident happened yesterday evening in Magnolia. Delaware State Police responded around 7:30 p.m. to a home on Millchop Lane, where the woman was found suffering from a gunshot wound. She was taken to a nearby hospital, where she was pronounced dead. A 23-year-old Magnolia man, Chase Washington, has been arrested in connection with聽 the shooting. Washington was taken into custody and transported to Troop 3, where he was charged with –Manslaughter Recklessly Cause the Death of Another Person (Felony) and Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony (Felony). He was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 7, and is at Sussex Correctional Institution on a $100,000 cash bond.
