Ocean outfall project closes Canal Street in Rehoboth

Canal Street from Sixth Street to Rehoboth Avenue will be closed for two months starting this week for construction of the force main for the city’s ocean outfall project. Access to Canal Street will be for local homeowners only. A-Del Construction is digging a pit to go under Rehoboth Avenue in the area. Officials say the pipe will be installed underneath Rehoboth Avenue and Grove Park and come out on Henlopen Avenue, where the pipe will continue to the Deauville Beach parking lot.
