Princess Anne Man Arrested for Child Sexual Abuse

A Princess Anne man has been arrested following an investigation in sexual abuse involving a juvenile female. Somerset County Sheriff’s Office officials received a report in mid-July alleging that 38 year old Travis Carpenter had sexually abused a juvenile. The investigation, which included interviews with the victim and witnesses led to criminal charges and an arrest warrant for Carpenter.
Officials learned that Carpenter left the state and on July 28th he was arrested in Accomack County, Virginia by the Accomack County Sheriff’s office on the Somerset County warrant.
Carpenter waived extradition and was returned to Somerset County on July 30th and charged with multiple felony offenses:
- Solicitation of a minor
- 3rd degree sex offense
- 4th degree sex offense (sexual contact)
- 2nd degree child abuse
- Sexual abuse of a minor
- Additional related charges
Carpenter was committed to the Somerset County Detention Center.
